Compression router cutters are designed for CNC nesting and panel processing applications where a clean finish is required on both the top and bottom surfaces.
The opposing cutting geometry helps reduce chipping and tear-out when machining materials such as melamine-faced board, MDF, plywood and other panel products.

Our coated (HC) compression routers deliver up to 40% longer edge life compared with standard competitor cutters. Premium-grade carbide, precision grinding and optimised cutting geometry help maintain consistent cut quality over a longer operating life.
In addition, Leitz cutters can be resharpened multiple times, extending overall tool life and lowering long term tooling costs.

Tool selection should consider your CNC machine, spindle and collet configuration, material type and thickness, cutting depth, feed rate, spindle speed and required edge finish.
Production volume is also important - tooling that performs well in occasional machining may not be the most economical choice for high-volume nesting. Your local Leitz Technical Expert can assess your application and recommend a cutter and machining parameters suited to your production requirements.

Local manufacturing provides Australian and New Zealand businesses with access to high-performance tooling backed by local technical expertise, sharpening and servicing. It also enables Leitz to manufacture standard and custom solutions for local CNC applications while reducing reliance on imported replacement tooling.

The purchase price is only one part of CNC tooling cost. Tooling life, cutting performance, number of resharpens, machine downtime, tool-change frequency and rejected or reworked components can all affect the total cost per part.
A longer-lasting, resharpenable tool may provide better overall production value even when the initial purchase price is higher.

Chipping can be caused by several factors including worn tooling, incorrect feed or spindle speeds, insufficient tool engagement, machine or collet runout or worn chuck/collets or using the wrong cutter geometry for the application.
A correctly selected and maintained compression cutter, along with the correct clamping system, can help produce clean top and bottom edges when nesting malamine-faced panels.

Yes. In addition to our standard Australian-Made range which is available in all common metric and imperial sizes, Leitz can manufacture custom carbide CNC tooling for specific machining requirements right here in Melbourne. Our local team can assess your material, machine, application and production requirements to recommend an appropriate tooling solution.
