Job Description

The CNC machinist operates 5 axis EDM machines and may later be trained in other computer numerical control or manual machines that are associated with the making or sharpening of cutting tools. The position runs production lots, communicates with co-workers regarding production runs, gets along well with others, and maintains a safe, organized, and clean work environment. This position requires experience with 5 axis CNC machines and dedication to the quality of production and performance efficiencies.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Operate and program 5 axis CNC.
  • Machine parts to specification.
  • Use inspection equipment for measuring.
  • Optical comparator
    • Calipers
    • Micrometers
    • Dial indicator
  • Promote teamwork and effective communications between all Leitz departments.
  • Support Leitz’ mission statement, critical success factors, quality and policy.
  • Maintains safe operations and work area by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Performs all assigned machine shop operations.
  • Detects and reports defective materials to management or designee.
  • Performs inspection of machined products, and documents results.
  • Completes and maintains paperwork for parts.
  • Assists in other work areas to perform fabrication and lay-up.
  • Read, understand, and follow all Leitz Tooling Systems LP health and safety protocol and procedures.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Minimum two years of 5 Axis CNC operation experience.
  • Knowledge of woodworking tools.
  • Vollmer machine experience is a plus.
  • CAD experience is a plus
